Books to curl up with
Autumn is the perfect time to pick up a new book. The weather is no longer hot enough to enjoy extended periods of times outside. It’s the season of red leaves, cosy jumpers, roaring fires and, most importantly, hot chocolates. In my opinion, it’s the best time of year to start reading again. But there are so many books out there that it can be impossible to know where to start. So I have come up with a short list of books that I think are perfect autumn reads – including one that I will be on the lookout for this season.
BEARTOWN BY FREDRIK BACKMAN
If you’re looking for a book to cosy up with this autumn, this book is perfect for that. The book follows the story of Beartown, a tiny community where the only thing keeping the town in good spirits is the junior players of an ice hockey team, who actually have a shot of winning the semi-finals this year. But when Beartown’s star player is accused of raping a fifteen-year-old girl, the town becomes divided. Fredrik Backman is a master storyteller, who takes a story that has sadly been told too many times and brings so much life into every single one of the town’s residents. You start to feel like a member of the community yourself! This is a story that you can really get lost in under your warm blankets in front of a fire.
